Next, head to the Taipei Fine Arts Museum. Its white volumes, clear circulation, and restrained exhibition design allow the artworks to be viewed with focus. For designers, it is not only about seeing exhibitions, but about understanding proportion, rhythm, and viewing distance.

For lunch, consider the Songyan area and visit Songshan Cultural and Creative Park. Compared to Huashan’s experimental atmosphere, Songyan feels more complete and layered. The former tobacco factory has preserved much of its original structure through its transformation into a cultural park. Design stores, exhibition spaces, and bookstores are scattered throughout, making it ideal for walking and pausing while observing how brands position themselves within historical settings.

In the afternoon, settle into a café and flip through exhibition catalogs from earlier visits. Let your eyes rest for a moment. Inspiration often surfaces during these seemingly empty pauses.

Later in the afternoon, take a train toward New Taipei City and extend the walk to the Yingge Ceramics Museum. More than a museum, it is a space dedicated to material, craftsmanship, and time. The malleability of clay and the marks left by firing invite reflection on the relationship between design and handcraft. The building’s scale and circulation also turn the visit into a calm walking experience.

If time allows, wander through Yingge Old Street nearby and observe how workshops and shops balance commerce and creation. What these places offer may not be the newest design language, but styles formed through long accumulated practice.

On the way back, slow your pace. A designer’s day of walking does not need to end with another exhibition. Instead, return to the city’s edges and observe life itself. Along the Tamsui River, around old streets, or within small renovated performance spaces, design can be seen unfolding in non traditional venues.
