Why travellers love us?

Unbeatable Location

「More time for sightseeing.」
Meander 1948 is located next to Taipei Main Station, the biggest transportation hub which gives access to High Speed Rail, Train and Metro. It is also 3 minutes away from the Taoyuan Airport Metro exit Y13 and is directly accessible from airport without the need to transfer. In addition, exit Y13 has elevator access to street level, so there is no need to carry luggages up and down any stairs. The convenience store 7-11 is right by our entrance; the Q Square Shopping Center and the Breeze Taipei Main Station Shopping Center combined have close to 100 restaurants within a 10-minute walk; and the hugely popular Ningxia Night Market is also 10-minute on foot. This area provides an array of cheap to classy food options. Moreover, Taiyuan Road and the nearby Dadaocheng area house the last remnants of small family-owned shops selling local sundry items; you can easily spend a day hunting for special knickknacks to bring home while appreciating the beautiful historical buildings from the 19th century.

Stylish Common Area and Posh Café Downstairs

「Create new stories with new friends.」
To facilitate exchanges, we have a charming common area as well a posh cafe on the ground floor. Our aesthetically pleasing common area utilizes natural sunlight to exude warmth and coziness. Its relaxing ambience is conducive to conversations. Meanwhile, our cafe attracts locals and travellers alike. You never know who you might meet, just as our hostel owner and cafe owner could never have imagined a fruitful collaboration when they first met at Meander Taipei back in 2014. Come and mingle over a cup of fresh brewed hand-drip in the morning, or chat over a bottle of beer in the evening. You will make memories which you will cherish for years to come.

Our coffee beans are personally picked and roasted by our Japanese owner, and he believes in serving single origin coffee so you can savor the most original taste of the beans. You will surely feel recharged for more travelling after a relaxing day at our award-winning hostel.

Historical Building

「Integration of the past and present.」
Meander 1948 won the Gold Medal, the highest honor of "2018 Old Building Regeneration Government Competition". According to the judges, we have successfully given new meanings and purposes to this historical building from 1948. Not only did we excel in the design aspects - uplifting the facade and interior to look beautiful again, the building itself has been repurposed to serve a greater cause. It has now become many foreigners' first opportunity to learn about Taiwanese history. By preserving multiple architectural elements from the original structure, and repurposing old materials as new furniture in the guest rooms, Meander 1948 offers foreigners a glimpse into the Japanese Occupation Era.
